School was CLOSED Monday 21st January

Monday 21st January: Due to dangerous road conditions, school was closed on Monday. It is important to consider the safety of both staff and parents travelling by road to and from school, and unfortunately as the forecast was for conditions to worsen during the day, I took the decision to close. Text messages were sent to parents in the morning at 8am, and Stray FM and NYCC were also informed.

Owing to the road conditions, I also decided to inform Young Voices that we would be unable to attend Tuesday night's concert. I felt it too high a risk to take pupils out on the snowy and icy roads. I knew the children would be disappointed, because they have been working so hard to learn their words and practise their singing. However, the likelihood was that the concert could be cancelled anyway, as I expected many other schools to be in a similar position. The Manchester concert was postponed earlier in the week, so I was hopeful that the Sheffield concert would also be rearranged for another date.
