Prospectus/Out of School Clubs/Food in school

School Prospectus

Our school prospectus is updated every year, to give the latest information and details about Hampsthwaite School. The prospectus contains details of school routines, policies, uniform and staff, as well as photos and information about the many events children take part in throughout their years at Hampsthwaite.

As well as giving a thorough introduction to the school for new and prospective families, much of the information will also be useful for those already at the school.

Our latest prospectus can be downloaded using the link below, and we always have printed copies available from the school office if you would like to have a copy in paper form.

For details of our school Nursery, please refer to the section at the bottom of this webpage, where the Nursery Prospectus can be downloaded.

Before and after school clubs

We run daily before and after-school care for children from Reception to Year 6. Our Early Birds club starts at 8am and children are then taken to their classes for the start of the school day. Our Adventurers Club runs from 3:30 until 5:30 every day.
These clubs are run by school staff, and a wide range of activities is planned, including provision for active play and use of the outdoors, as well as a wide range of indoor resources including art activities, games, books, construction, toys, puzzles, and more. Children may also make some use of technology - using laptops, i-pads and playstation. The use of these is closely monitored, and time on technology is restricted to ensure children access a wide range of different activities and spend time playing with others, interacting and having conversations with staff and their peers.
For more information about our out-of-school care, including fees payable and our charging policy, please contact the school office.

In addition to our Early Birds and Adventurers clubs, we also offer a wide variety of extra-curricular clubs and groups which run once a week for up to 6 sessions a term. Children can sign up for these free of charge on a termly basis.
We provide a different range of extra-curricular clubs each term, and the range on offer includes:
  • sports - netball, cricket, tennis, table tennis;
  • crafts - art, card-making, stage-scenery, sewing;
  • technology - computer club, Lego, robotics;
  • arts - music, dance, movement, drama;
along with other clubs including philosophy, board games, debating, young leaders and more!

School Meals
School meals are freshly cooked every day in our purpose-built school kitchen. The menu is carefully nutritionally balanced and there is always an option of meat or vegetarian choices. Freshly home-baked bread is also included in the menu.

Children may choose which meals they wish to have, and this is indicated on a menu sheet which is returned to school ready for the start of each new term. A copy of the school meal menu is available to download below.

Infant meals are provided free of charge to all children. There is a meal price of £2.10 for junior meals.
Fresh Fruit
All infant and nursery children receive fresh fruit every day as part of the school fruit scheme. This is provided free of charge. Junior children may bring their own fresh fruit snack to have at morning playtime.

Milk Bar
We run a Milk Bar every morning playtime, at which the children are served fresh milk to drink. This is popular and provides a healthy energy boost mid-morning. The price is 15p per serving.
