Information about our school curriculum is available in the documents below. Our monthly Hampsthwaite Update Newsletters also contain further details of all the exciting things going on in school, special curriculum events, focus days/weeks and general work classes are doing.
For information about the specific aspects of English and Mathematics being taught, please refer to the relevant Learning Letter for you child's class / year group. These are given out to all children at the start of every term, and explain the class's "Big Idea" for the context for their learning, as well as practical information about staff, PE, homework etc.
In Nursery and Key Stage 1, children are introduced to phonics using the Jolly Phonics
materials. For reading, as well as books and texts by well-known children's authors, we use a range of materials from different reading schemes including Oxford Reading Tree, Heinemann, Ginn and Rigby Star. We use Spellzoo to help us plan and deliver our spelling lessons throughout school alongside the National Curriculum end of year expectations.
Do feel free to contact the school and speak to the Headteacher or one of the class teachers if you would like to know more about our curriculum.
